About us

Our Canterbury club has been running for close to 30 years, teaching sport Karate based on the traditional Japanese martial art of Wado Ryu.

Karate is widely recognised as the ultimate art of unarmed combat. It is an excellent system for achieving physical fitness, mental awareness and personal self control furthermore it develops superb co-ordination between body and mind.

You will learn to use your hands, feet, head, knees and elbows, to deliver effective blows in situations where you need to defend yourself.

Our workouts consist of cardiovascular, strength and flexibility exercises designed to benefit the whole body.

Karate for all

Men, women and children of all ages can participate in Karate, children can start at the age of six years old. Karate is one of the few sports where all the family can train together.

Each student, regardless of age, progresses at their own rate therefore emphasis is placed on the individual’s abilities.

Self discipline, confidence and self esteem are promoted in our classes, these are traits everyone can benefit from throughout their lifetime.

Most importantly, it’s great fun!

  • Improve your fitness
  • Learn self defence
  • Train with qualified instructors in a friendly atmosphere
  • Monitor your progress by grading
